Code of Conduct

The purpose of the Code of Conduct is to describe minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision making to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Religious Education...

‘Religious Education is the first learning area in the Catholic school curriculum. This is so because, though a classroom activity, Religious Education is a form of the Ministry of the Word. Unlike the other Learning Areas, it is an activity of Evangelisation in its own right’ (Mandate, 62).

Evangelisation Plan...

An Evangelisation Plan is a deliberate means to make real in the practical daily life of the school the revelation of God’s will.

It is an inventory of what the school is doing and what is going on to ensure that we are enhancing the Good News of Jesus.

The plan articulates a sense of deliberate and conscious acts to spread the Good News of Jesus.

COMMUNITY

Enrolment Policy...

St. Joseph’s exists to further the mission of the Church in bringing the Word of God to all people. As a Catholic School operating in the Parish of St. Augustine’s, Pinjarra, and in accordance with the Mandate Letter of the Bishops of Western Australia and Catholic Education Office policy, we strive to make a Catholic school education available to all Catholic families who wish their children to receive one, as far as resources within the school allow.

School Fees: Setting and Collection Policy...

As a Catholic school, operating as part of the Catholic Church, we have a vital mission, to provide a Catholic education for the children of all families in our Parish. As such there is an obligation on us, as a school community, to ensure that all families who desire their children to be educated in their faith, can do so without fear of prejudice on the grounds of financial concerns.

Uniform Policy...

St Joseph’s school uniform may be purchased from the Uniform Shop, which is run by a committee of parents as a service to the school community. The uniform is available only through the Uniform Shop. We have EFTPOS facilities at the Uniform Shop and it is anticipated to provide an online ordering facility.

Privacy Policy...

The Catholic school is a reflection of the Church’s commitment to the dignity of the individual (Mandate para 6). It is important for schools to demonstrate this commitment in the manner in which they protect information that they hold about their school community. The Catholic school requires information about students and their families in order to provide for the education of these students.

Healthy Food Choices...

The human person, though made of body and soul, is a unity... The human body shares in the dignity of the image of God: it is a human body precisely because it is animated by a spiritual soul, and it is the whole human person that is intended to become, in the body of Christ, a temple of the Spirit.

Dispute and Complaint Resolution...

Catholic schools can serve as models for all within Western Australia who seek to create genuine communities. Such communities are always founded upon shared commitment to the common good (Mandate, para 6).
On occasions there may be disagreement with a decision and a dispute or complaint may arise within a Catholic school.
